SANCTUARY: Above Average Joe

December 6, 2022

Joseph is often the overlooked character of the Christmas Story.  His contributions, though sometimes not celebrated or sung about, are significant to the beginning of God’s salvation story.  Joseph is obedient, compassionate, courageous, and self-disciplined.  After examining these attributes in further detail, listeners will be challenged to explore how they can emulate these attributes during the Advent season.  Can we do more of what we already know this season?  Who is God calling you to share compassion with right now?  Is there a life circumstance that demands courage of you?  Where do you need to make decisions against yourself, your comfort, your wishes so that God’s greater purposes can be accomplished? Sermon text: Matthew 1:18-25
